Sodium polytungstate as an alternative to highly toxic organic heavy liquid solutions

Non-toxic and environmentally friendly

SPT is an excellent alternative to highly toxic organic heavy liquid solutions, such as bromoform, dibromomethane, tetrabromomethane (TBE), and now also diiodomethane (methylene iodide), which unfortunately are still widely used.

This fact alone should be reason enough to use only SPT in future. In addition to the enormous toxicity of the alternative substances, there are a number of other drawbacks: storage, disposal and, not least, the need to use solvents for cleaning of samples all mean that organic heavy liquid solutions are a “no-go” in high-tech labs and academic institutions.

SPT is also an outstanding alternative to highly corrosive and environmentally harmful inorganic zinc chloride solutions.
