Sodium polytungstate is a relatively new agent for the production of heavy liquids, which offers substantial advantages over zinc chloride or highly toxic halogen hydrocarbons in sink-float analyses. It dissolves very well in water and can be configured as a pH-neutral solution. The maximum density of the solution is 3.1 g/cm³ at 25°.

As the patent holder and producer of sodium polytungstate, TC-Tungsten Compounds offers the chemical in various forms. The range of products we manufacture in-house includes:
Sodium polytungstate as a fine, white powder, particularly low in carbon and nitrogen.
SPT 0 in liquid form as a ready-to-use solution, extremely high-purity (filtered via glass filters) and available in any density up to 3,0 g/cm³, newly developed.
Sodium polytungstate fine, crystalline, powder
Sodium polytungstate as a granulate with low dust content, less clumping when dissolving
Sodium polytungstate as a ready-made, highly transparent, yellowish-green solution, available in densities of up to 3.0 g/cm³ (standard density: 2.82 g/cm³ ± 0.02 g/cm³)
Sodium polytungstate/tungsten carbide suspension (opaque, black), available in densities of 3.2 g/cm³ to 4.6 g/cm³
Sodium polytungstate as a ready-made, highly transparent, light-coloured solution, available in densities of up to 3.0 g/cm³ (standard density: 2.82 g/cm³ ± 0.02 g/cm³), highly stabilized for metallic samples
Recycled Sodium polytungstate as a ready-made solution, available in densities of up to 3.0 g/cm³ (standard density: 2.82 g/cm³ ± 0.02 g/cm³), not always available
Low Viscosity Polytungstate, fine, crystalline powder
Low Viscosity Polytungstate solution as a transparent, almost colourless ready-to-use liquid, available with density 2.95 g/cm³ ± 0.02g/cm³ and viscosity 15 mPas
Ammonium metatungstate solution ((NH4)6H2W12O40 • xH2O, CAS 12028-48-7 & 12333-11-8) as a transparent, almost colourless ready-to-use liquid, available in any density up to 2.0 g/cm³ ± 0.02g/cm³
Safety and technical data sheets for our in-house products are available upon request. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you require this information.
Sodium polytungstate is generally ordered as a ready-made aqueous solution with a density of 2.82 ± 0.02 g/cm³ or in densities ≥ 3.0 g/cm³, in 1 kg, 5 kg, 10 kg and 25 kg quantities. However, sodium polytungstate can also be ordered in crystalline form or as a granulate in 1 kg, 5 kg, 10 kg and 25 kg quantities.
You can order directly from us from anywhere in the world or, alternatively, you can place an order via one of our country representatives. No minimum order quantity applies.
